Harriet to record Julian Joseph’s violin concerto which was written for her, with the Ulster Orchestra.

October 2026 sees Harriet in Ireland recording Jazz pianist, composer and broadcaster Julian Joseph’s violin concerto with the Ulster Orchestra. The work was premiered at the Salisbury International Festival 2022 with Ensemble 12 and has had subsequent performances with Celoniatus Ensemble (World Heart Beat Concert Hall), BliM (Kings PLace).

Julian takes the inspiration of the island in the Grenadines where his father was born as his inspiration: “Islands are precious places of family, history and geography but even more importantly of mind, heart, spirit, soul and human connection” Julian Joseph.

New violin concerto by Deborah Pritchard, written for Harriet Mackenzie, to be premiered at the Aldeburgh Festival!

Continuing their long-term collaboration, composer Deborah Pritchard is writing a new concerto for Harriet Mackenzie inspired by the artwork of Maggi Hambling. This will be the third concerto and the fifth piece for this fruitful cross-art project. The third concerto will be premiered at the Aldeburgh Summer Music Festival at Snape Maltings Concert Hall with the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra with Sora Elisabeth Lee conducting.

Karolos premieres new work by Robert Fokkens!

Karolos (Harriet Mackenzie – violin; Sarah-Jane Bradley – viola; and Graham Walker – cello) premiere a new work written for them by acclaimed composer Robert Fokkens at the Highgate Literary and Scientific Institute. Karolos previously recorded Fokkens’ works for string trio ‘Dawn Chants on the Umfolozi’ and ‘Limping Dance’. The new work will be an exciting addition to these works.
